Congratulations

On behalf of the Interior Design Coalition of Washington (IDCW), I would like to congratulate you on your decision to become a member! You are now part of a dedicated group of individuals who are promoting interior design professionalism in Washington State. You are becoming a member in a very special year for IDCW. 2011 marks the coalitions 10th anniversary. Formed in 2001 by Susan Stanfield, ASID and Lisa Herriot, IIDA the coalition has grown and thrived. What began as a grassroots effort by a few passionate professionals has evolved into a mature, strong organization of many.

Ten years later we are still committed to pursuing legal recognition for the interior design profession in Washington State and getting closer every year. We believe that without legislation, Interior Designers will be threatened by ever changing architectural regulations, and should not be defined or governed by another profession. An Interior Designers right to work must be protected. This legislation will open more opportunities, expanding interior designers rights, responsibilities and scope of practice. In addition it will give the consumer (our clients) more informed choices and levels of service to choose from in Washington State.

We have worked hard to advocate, educate, and motivate our community on the importance of interior design legislation for our profession. I would like to encourage you to get involved with this effort. Join us for an educational seminar, a fundraising event, Product Runway, or simply volunteer to contact your legislator. Throughout the next few months we will be sending out five-minute action items, these are little things you can do that will make a big impact in our success.

Remember, this is your profession. Secure its future!

Sincerely,

Emily Moses, ASID
IDCW President
